Sunshine Everyday -- for Oddball Art Challenge Blog

It's time for some mid-challenge inspiration on the Oddball Art Challenge blog.  The challenge theme this time is, "Here Comes the Sun."  We want to see a sun somewhere on the project.  The challenge runs from June 15-July 14, so there's still plenty of time!

I got out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens and a water brush to create this:

I used Sunny Bunny #200.  The sentiment comes with the adorable image, and there are some other great sentiments with the set, too.

I cut the sun out on my Silhouette Cameo with a file from the Silhouette Design Store.  The sequins are from Craftin' Desert Divas.

It's Strawberry Season!

It's Tuesday, and that means it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Sentiments Challenge Blog!  This week's theme is always a favorite -- Anything Goes!  You've got to join us!

Here in NW Wisconsin where I live, the strawberries are just coming into season.  There are a number of places to pick strawberries, and the local patch brings pails of berries to town most days for those of us too busy to pick and we buy the ready picked.  It is a glorious time of year!  Berries for breakfast, berries for lunch!  Berries made into jam, berries made into pie.  We love our strawberry season!

This Isobel - Strawberry Fairy rubber stamp from Crafty Sentiments Designs, is a fitting tribute to all things good about strawberries.  She is as sweet as strawberries!

I colored the Isobel - Strawberry Fairy  rubber stamp with Copic markers.  The card base is a cutting file from Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons, cut out on my Silhouette Cameo.  The designer papers and card stock are from Close To My Heart.  The crinkle ribbon and lace are from 3 Girl JAM.  I used a Spellbinders die to cut out the rubber stamp.

I hope you can join us this week for our Anything Goes challenge at Crafty Sentiments Challenge Blog.  We've got great prizes, and I'd love to see what you make!

I used a stitched die from Lawn Fawn to cut out the Gran's Chair Summer digi.  The card base and layers were created with a Spellbinders die set.  Papers for this card are digital.  I purchased them at Snap Click Supply -- Prima Sun Kiss.  There's some lace and crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl JAM, and the sentiment is from a Spellbinders card kit.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:

Never Give Up -- for Great Impressions Stamps

This is it.  My final post for this term on the Great Impressions Stamps blog.   I have so enjoyed the ride!

For my last post, I decided to share one of the cards I used when I applied for the team.  It uses 2 Great Impressions Stamps that I purchased long ago.  They still bring me great inspiration, and they are still 2 of my all-time favorite stamps from ANY stamp company.

This card features 2 Great Impressions rubber stamps.  They are:  E795 - Tricycle and  A145 - Never Give Up.

I colored E795 - Tricycle with watercolor paints and a very tiny paint brush.

This Tricycle and Never Give Up sentiment inspired me to try out for this design team.  I am so glad I did!  It has been one of the more outstanding creative experiences I have had!  Thanks to Deonne, Mynn, and the whole design team for a wonderful term.

It's Thursday, and time for another challenge at Star Stampz Challenge Blog.    The theme, for the next 2 weeks, is 'Summer is Here'.  Yes it is!

It is just about strawberry season here where I live, and that is a sure sign of summer.  that was the inspiration behind today's card:

This adorable image is 'Spring Strawberry', by Star Stampz.  I colored Spring Strawberry with Copic markers.

The summertime strawberry papers on this card are from Close To My Heart.  The card design is a cutting die from Sizzix.  The sentiment is a stamp from Joy's Life.  a bit of Timeless Twine tied it altogether.

I hope you can join in on the 'Summer is Here' challenge at Star Stampz Challenge blog.  We've got great prizes, and I'd love to see what you make!  Check out the Facebook Fan group, too.

Oh Happy Day! for Julia Spiri

It's Thursday, and time for a new challenge at the Julia Spiri Challenge Blog.   For the next 2 weeks, the theme is 'In the Garden' (add a flower, tree, etc).  I love flowers, so this was a great challenge for me!

I used Pink & White Roses clip art from Julia Spiri to create this card.  It is a wedding card for some very special friends.

I printed the rose on white paper, then used 2 sizes of Spellbinders dies to cut it out and back it.

The card base is a cutting die by Sizzix.  The papers are from My Mind's Eye.  Some Timeless Twine wraps it up.

I hope you can join us this next 2 weeks for our Garden challenge at the Julia Spiri Challenge Blog.   Then, check out the Stamps by Julia Spiri Facebook group.

Asha's Birthday Bog Hop! Woot, Woot!!

Hello, and welcome to our SURPRISE Birthday Beach Blog Hop for the lovely Asha!  You should have arrived here from the lovely and talented Judy's blog.  If not, start at the MHKDesigns blog to complete the hop for more chances to WIN!  We are celebrating a very special lady today, and we're doing so by creating beachy birthday cards to wish her many happy returns!

I used the colors in this photo inspiration, and the MHK Eat Your Cake birthday digi set to create this:

I colored the MHK Eat Your Cake digi with Copic markers, then fussy cut.   I added some Wink of Stella glitter pens to the flames. The sentiment, also from the Eat Your Cake set, was cut out with a die from Top Dog Dies.

I cut the card base out on my Silhouette Cameo using a file I found in the Silhouette Design store.  The music dies are from Spellbinders.

Thank you so much for joining in our hop to say "Happy Birthday" to a dear friend!  Your next stop on the hop is the talented Lilian.  Enjoy the hop, and eat some birthday cake along the way!

Witches in June -- Guest Designing at TTCRD

Hello, and happy Tuesday, everyone!  I have the great pleasure of guest designing today at one of my favorite challenge blogs.  Today, you'll find me at Through The Craft Room Door (TTCRD).

The sponsor today is Nikki Burnette.  I was given the most awesome stamp to color up! This is Esme digital Stamp:

I colored Esme Digital Stamp with Copic markers, then used several Spellbinders dies to cut her out and back the image.  The sentiment, "You say witch like it's a bad thing."  is from Unity Stamp Company.  The designer paper can be found at  Pixel Scrapper.  It's designed by Sheila Reed, and is part of the No Tricks, Just Treats Collection.  The green shimmer trim is from Close To My Heart.

When my husband saw this card, he said, "Wow, that witch is beautiful!  She could make you do most anything!"

I had a great time crating this card, and I'm grateful to Deonna Bemish and the TTCRD design team for the opportunity to guest design today.  It's been great fun!

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:

Retired, and Loving It! -- for Path of Positivity

It's time for a little mid-month inspiration at the Path of Positivity Challenge blog.  The theme all this month is 'Achievement'.

We have 2 great sponsors this month --

For today's project, I had the pleasure of working with a digi stamp kit from Kitten Scraps called Retired Life.

I colored this adorable digi with Copic markers, then used a Sizzix die set to create the card and cut out the image.

Papers for this card are from Doodlebug Designs.  There's some Timeless Twine wrapped around the base and tied in a bow.

Retirement -- now that's a big achievement, and one I'm working hard to obtain!  We spend our whole working career hoping to reach the elusive goal.  Several of my friends have retired recently with the purchase of the facility I work in.  A few of us are hoping to follow them in the not-too-distant future.  Yes, retirement is a huge achievement!

I hope you can join us this month at Path of Positivity Challenge Blog for our 'achievement' challenge.  I'd love to see your take on achievement, and I'd love to see what you create.

A Tu-Tu recap for Great Impressions Stamps

Happy Saturday, everyone!  I hope if you have Father's Day plans that they are wonderful.  Treasure the memories.  Both my husband and I have lost our fathers now, and the holiday is harder than it used to be, but we have wonderful memories of our Dads.  They were good men!

I'm posting today on the Great Impressions Stamps blog.  The next 2 weeks, we're re-visiting some of our favorite Great Impressions Stamps creations.

There's something about flamingos.  They just make me happy.  That's why I chose this card as one of my favorites.  How can you not smile when you see this delightful combination of image and sentiment, both from Great Impressions Stamps

This card uses H268 - TuTu Flamingo and C479 Happy Birthday Tutu.  I colored H268 - TuTu Flamingo with Copic markers.

Fun for any age, sure to bring a smile to the recipient's face.  You'll find many Great Impressions Stamps that fit that description.  Do some shopping in the online store!

Have you entered the Great Impressions Stamps monthly challenge yet?  This month, it's Anything Goes, so what are you waiting for?

It's time for some mid-month inspiration over on the Sasayaki Glitter blog.  There's also some new releases to tell you about that just got put in the Etsy Shop.  Check them out here!

I used Cute Friends for my mid-month inspiration.  I thought they were just what their name implies -- cute!

This bird has found a great mode of transportation!  Perhaps a bit slow, but colorful and fun!

I printed Cute Friends on watercolor paper, then used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens and a water brush to  color the digi.  I used circle dies from Spellbinders and Craftin' Desert Divas to cut the digi out and mount it.  Papers for this card are from Doodlebug Designs, the shimmer trim is from Close To My Heart, and the enamel dots are from my stash.  The sentiment is also from Craftin' Desert Divas.

June 15 -- that means it's New Release day at Oddball Art Stamp Co.  You'll find a few wonderful new ones in the Etsy Store.   You can find inspiration for the New Releases on the Oddball Art Company blog.

Today, I had a great time making a shaker card with the new digi, #310 - Love Birds.  What do you think?

I printed the Love Birds (#310) digi on watercolor paper.  Then, I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens and a water brush to paint the digi.

The shaker, made with Lawn Fawn dies, is filled with heart sequins from Craftin' Desert Divas.  The 6x6 papers on this card are by Doodlebug Designs, flowers are by Prima, and the shimmer trim is by Close To My Heart.

One of my staff, who's worked for me for 10 years, is getting married in Uganda in a month.  We're having a wedding shower for her on Saturday.  This is her shower card.  Love birds, indeed!

Steampunk Owl -- for Coloring Without Boundaries

It's Showcase Time on the Lacy Sunshine Blog, and today is going to be a great showcase!  Its also the start of an Anything Goes challenge, so come join the fun!

Heather Valentin, the artist behind the incredible Lacy Sunshine Stamps, has created some wonderful new adult coloring books, available at Amazon.com.   It's also available in the Lacy Sunshine Store.

I'm showcasing Steampunk Owl today, from the Tangled Gems: Birds Coloring Book and I used Faber-Castell Poly Chromos pencils.

Here's Steampunk Owl, from the Tangled Gems Collection:

I started out coloring the green scales.
I used:
Light Green, Leaf Green, Emerald Green, Pine Green

Next, I colored the parts that looked like metal to me.  The beak look like a shield.
I used:  Cold Grey II, Cold Grey I, Cold Grey IV, Silver, Black
Clock and other metal parts --
Light Chrome Yellow, Naples Yellow, Green Gold, Gold, Light Flesh, Cinnamon

The, I began finding color combinations I liked, and used them in various places around the owl, trying to keep it balanced and pleasing to my eye.
Here are the combinations:
Light Magenta, Light Purple Pink, Fuchsia
Violet, Purple Violet, Blue Violet
Light Phthalo Blue, Middle Phthalo Blue, Phthalo Blue
Cadmium Orange, Orange Glaze, Dark Cadmium Orange
Light Cobalt Blue
Cobalt Blue, Deep Cobalt Green

Here's another picture -- more coloring done, working on keeping it balanced.

More color combinations:
Burnt Ochre, Terra-cotta, Indian Red
Naples Yellow, Dark Naples Ochre, Brown Ochre
Light Phthalo Green, Phthalo Green, Dark Phthalo Green,
Crimson, Red-violet, Violet

Here's another picture, colored along a little further.  Both wings are done now, working on tail feathers.  Not much further!

This Steampunk Owl piece was so fun to color!  It challenged me in many ways.  I don't often use colored pencils, and it really made me work on color combinations, blending, and shading.

I printed this Steampunk Owl on a 81/2 X 11 piece of Canson Mi-Tientes paper.  I have framed it in an 81/2 x11 frame, and it's hanging in my hallway.  I love it!  It is so colorful and unusual.  Just looking at this owl makes me smile!

I hope you check out the rest of the coloring pieces done by this super talented design team over on the Lacy Sunshine blog.  Then, please join in the Anything Goes challenge.  There are 2 incredible Facebook Groups to check out, too -- Coloring Without Boundaries and Lacy Sunshine Color and Craft Community.  Plus, don't forget to shop in the Lacy Sunshine Store!  There's so much to choose from, including some wonderful art classes taught by Heather Valentin herself!

Flowers of Summer -- for Great Impressions Stamps

Happy Saturday!  I am posting today on the Great Impressions Stamps blog -- one of my favorite places to hang out on a Saturday! I hope you are enjoying the last days of spring.  Here in NW Wisconsin where I live, we are just beginning to get some summer heat in our days.  We've barely made it into the 70's and have yet to break 80.  But, the heat and humidity are coming -- they always do!

I love many things about summer.  One of my favorite things is the flowers.  I love the bright colors and the endless varieties.

For today's card, I got out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens and a water brush to create a watercolor effect.  Here's how it turned out:

I used 2 Great Impressions rubber stamps on this card, J09 - Garden Flowers, and C366 - Hello Summer.   J09 - Garden Flowers was stamped on a piece of watercolor paper.

The die used to cut out the watercolored panel is from Top Dog dies.  The banner shaped die cut is from Craftin' Desert Divas.  The oval shaped stitched die (with sentiment) is from Die-namics.  Papers for this card are old My Mind's Eye.

I used this month's challenge picture at Great Impressions Stamps for inspiration for this card.

The challenge runs all month, and it's anything goes, so I hope you join us!

Don't forget about all the other wonderful stamps in the Great Impressions Store.  You'll want to check them out!

I'd like you to meet Faith - Popcorn & Juice:

I think Faith - Popcorn & Juice - is at the movie theatre, and she is having so much fun.  She's watching an adventure film, and having a big adventure herself!

I colored the rubber stamp, Faith - Popcorn & Juice with Copic markers.  I used various dies from Craftin' Desert Divas and Die-namics to construct the card.  The designer papers are retired, from Close To My Heart.  The glitter stars are also CTMH.

Yippee-Skippee -- for Star Stampz

It's Thursday, and that means it's almost Friday, and that means it's almost the weekend!  Yea!  It also means it's time for a new challenge at the Star Stampz Challenge blog.  This time, our theme is 'For Kids', and the challenge will run for 2 weeks.

I had so much fun coloring 'The Dragon & the Knight' to create this:

The knight looks a bit disappointed with his "ferocious" dragon, doesn't he?

I colored the Dragon & the Knight with Copic markers, giving the dragon a soft, friendly look.  The knight, though, I wanted him to look regal!

I created this easel card using my Silhouette Cameo using a file I found in the Silhouette Design Store.  Papers for the card are from Echo Park.  The pearls & brads are from my stash.

I hope you can join us for our 'For Kids' challenge at Star Stampz Challenge blog.  Check out the Star Stampz Fan Group on Facebook, too.   It's a great group, with inspiration, fun, and great information to be had.

Hey There -- for Julia Spiri Challenge Blog

It's Thursday, and time for a new challenge on the Julia Spiri Challenge Blog.   Our theme for the next 2 weeks is always Anything Goes, but there's an optional twist of CAS.

I adore Julia Spiri images!  I'll color any and all of them.  Finding one that would work well for a CAS card was a bit of a challenge, but I found one that seemed like it would work well for what I had in mind.

I used The Little Ladybug digi stamp to create the CAS card:

I colored The Little Ladybug with Copic markers, then backed her with some black card stock to make the image pop.

Designer papers on this card are from Pixel Scrapper.  All card stock is from Close To My Heart, except what the Little Ladybug digi is colored on.  That's Copic X Press It Blending card.  The sentiment is part of a stamp set by Simon Says Stamp.

I hope you are able to join in on our challenge at Julia Spiri Challenge blog.  Remember, it's always Anything Goes, with an optional CAS twist.  It runs for 2 weeks.  Join the Stamps by Julia Spiri Facebook group, too, to find out about specials, new releases, and for tons of great inspiration!

Reading is Dreaming with Open Eyes -- for Path of Positivity

A new challenge is starting today on the Path of Positivity Challenge Blog.    The challenge is a month long, and the theme is 'Achievement'.

We have two awesome sponsors this month --

For today, I am working with the delightful 'Book Worm' digi from Robyn's Fetish.

I colored Book Worm with Copic markers.  I believe that worm might be reciting a poem by Longfellow! The sentiment, "Reading is dreaming with open eyes." -- can be found at Pixel Scrapper. It's  Part of the Fine Print Word Art by Marissa Lerin.

I cut the easel card out on my Silhouette Cameo, with a file I found in the Silhouette Design Store. Papers for this card were also found at Pixel Scrapper. They are Spread Your Wings papers from Sharon Dewi-Stolp.  Brads and sequins are from Close To My Heart.

I think one of the biggest achievements, and most rewarding ones, that we accomplish in life is learning to read.  Children with a solid reading base go far in life.  Plus, the ability to get lost in a good book is such a gift!  I thank all the people in life that gave me my joy of books and words -- teachers, parents, and grandparents.

I hope you share your achievements with us this month at the Path of Positivity Challenge Blog.  I'd love to read your stories and see what you create!

A Flamingo Summer -- for Great Impressions Stamps

Happy weekend, fellow stamp lovers!  I have a fun summertime card to share with you today, and I'm also sharing on the Great Impressions Stamps blog.

I broke out the watercolors to create today's card because I wanted a 'watery' look to it all.

This card uses H287 - Floating Flamingo, and C366 - Hello Summer.  I stamped both H287 - Floating Flamingo and C366 - Hello Summer onto watercolor paper.  Then, I broke out my new Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pen and a water brush and got busy.

I created the rocking base using my Silhouette Cameo with a file I found in the Silhouette Design Store.  The sun is also a cut file from the Silhouette Design Store. The stitched dies are from Craftin' Desert Divas. Designer Papers are from Carta Bella.

We have a new challenge starting tomorrow at Great Impressions Stamps Challenge blog, so join the fun!

Check out all the wonderful stamps in the Great Impressions Online Store.
