Enjoy the Summer -- for Crafty Sentiments

Great news!  Yesterday, as if by magic, Google chose to give me access to my account again, and therefore my original blog.  Woohoo!  Soon, I plan to move these posts over and use that one again.  It's where most people look for me and expect to find me.

Today, there is a new challenge at Crafty Sentiments blog.  The theme is 'summer'. Summer, to me, is spending time on the water, swimming, sailing, kayaking.  Just like this adorable girl, Primrose:

This Crafty Sentiments Designs rubber stamp is Primrose - Sailing Boat.  I colored her with Copic markers.

It's almost Independence Day here in the U.S., so I went with a patriotic theme with this card.  The star-shaped card can be found at the Silhouette Design Store. Papers for this card are from Pebbles - Americana 6x6 pad.  The blue crinkle ribbon is 3 Girl JAM -- from the Red, White, and Blue Bundle. The star confetti chipboard is from UmWow Studio. The sentiment is from Hot Off the Press.

Join us this week at the Crafty Sentiments Challenge Blog for our Summer Challenge.  I'd love to see what you make!

Dance Like There's No Tomorrow

I am a really bad dancer.  Maybe that's why I admire the ability so much in others.  I also love images  of dancers and gymnasts -- they're so graceful, unlike me.

When I saw this image in the Polkadoodles store, I just knew I had to color her!

She's called Gymnast/Twirling girl/Acrobat.  I wanted her to fit on a tag, so I modified her a bit from the original, below.

I colored the Gymnast image with Copic markers, then fussy cut her.  The tag is a die from Paper wishes.  I cut it out with a background paper from Webster's Pages, Everyday Poetry, 6x6 pad.  The butterfly is a Cheery Lynn die.  The tie dye crinkle ribbon is from 3 Girl JAM.

I created this tag today to enter in:

Enjoy! - a new challenge at 3 Girl JAM

It's time for this month's challenge at 3 Girl JAM. Again this month, it's "Anything Goes with Ribbon."

I've been trying to enter Gerda Steiner's progressive challenge each month.  I find her images so delightful!  I used her image and combined it with some of my favorite 3 Girl JAM!

I used the lilac color from the Diagonal Striped Ribbon Bundle on this box.  The box was cut out on my Cricut Explore, using the Close To My Heart Cricut Artiste cartridge

This Gerda Steiner digi is called "Watermelon Kid."  I colored him with Copic markers, then used a Spellbinder die to cut him out.  The sentiment was cut out with another die. The sentiment is from Hot Off the Press -- Tiny Words and Phrases.

The 3 Girl JAM Challenge goes from today until July 31.  Link up your "Anything Goes With Ribbon" projects all month long.  I'd love to see what you make!

I'm entering this in:

Patriotic Hearts -- for QKR Stampede

It's Friday, and time for a new challenge at QKR Stampede.  With Independence Day just around the corner here in the U.S., and Canada Day happening even sooner, this week we're going with a patriotic theme.  Show us your country's colors!

I love the U.S.A., and I'm showing my patriotism with this card:

QKR Stampede has rubber stamps and digis for any occasion, including July 4.  I used Patriotic Heart (digi23006) on this card, changing the color of the stamp using Picmonkey, printing it 3 times, and using a heart-shaped punch from Creative Memories to cut them out.  The chevron background was cut out on my Cricut Explore and mounted on an A2 size card base.  All papers are from Close To My Heart.

Please join us this week at QKR Stampede for our Patriotic challenge.  I'd love to see what you make!

Friends

I'm sharing a card today that I made for a friend that recently had surgery.  I wanted a card that would let her know I was thinking of her.  I'd received a beautiful poppy image, designed by Anne's Digital Art, and this month's progressive challenge freebie at The Outlawz Challenge.  I thought it would be perfect for what I had in mind.

I colored the poppy image with Close To My Heart watercolor pencils, then used a Close To My Heart Blending Pen

The card base is from Bazzill, the designer paper is from Basic Grey, and the ribbon is from my stash.  The banner stamp and sentiment are from Close To My Heart -- Finding the Words.

This is such a versatile image. I know I will use it again and again.  Thanks to Anne's Digital Art for participating in The Outlawz Progressive Freebie Challenge!

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:
The Outlawz Monthly Progressive Challenge -- June
D.L. Art -- June Linky Challenge
Sister Act Card Challenge -- ATG

Two Cards -- for Snapdragon Snippets

I'm posting today for Snapdragon Snippets.  I had a couple of cards a wanted to make, and you can always find what you need from Snapdragon Snippets -- there's so much variety!

I have a co-worker and friend who recently had back surgery.  I wanted to make a pretty get well card for her, and I wanted it to be a bit more original than the others she's been receiving.

This Get Well Easel Card, from Snapdragon Snippets, is available in the Silhouette Design Store, and will shortly be available in the SDS Store

With Independence Day just around the corner here in the U.S.A., I wanted to make a patriotic card. Once again, I found the perfect cutting file from Snapdragon Snippets

This is the A2 Inward Star Card cutting file from Snapdragon Snippets.

Papers for both cards are from my stash.  Ribbons are from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Visit the Snapdragon Snippets blog each day for fantastic inspiration from the design team.

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:

Piano Girl -- for Inspiration Destination

I am posting today for Inspiration Destination Challenge Blog.  It somehow seems fitting that the image I'm using is a little version of myself, a glimpse of me that many in the craft world don't know about.

This precious image is from Polkadoodles.  Isn't she sweet?  The digi is called "Piano Girl".

I actually play piano for a living (well, that and many other things.  I am a music therapist).  This image takes me back to piano recitals and childhood.  I loved playing on that grand piano at my teacher's house!  It was so close to heaven for me.

I colored Piano Girl with Copic markers.  Ever tried to make a black piano look shiny?  It was quite a challenge!
The music background paper and the note embellishments are from Echo Park -- the Melody of Life Collection.  The floral embellishments are from Wild Orchid Crafts, found at Really Reasonable Ribbon. The Purple Passion crinkle ribbon is from 3 Girl JAM

Please join us this week at Inspiration Destination for our Always Anything Goes challenge.  I'd love to see what you make!

It's Tuesday, and that means there's a new release today at The East Wind Etsy Shop.  It's Aurora today, Aurora - Bloom:

I colored Aurora - Bloom with Copic markers, then mounted the image on some Close To My Heart card stock in colors found in the colored image.  The Designer paper is from My Mind's Eye.  The sentiment is a stamp from Close To My Heart.  The tie dye crinkle ribbon is from 3 Girl JAM.

Aurora - Bloom is a beautiful image to color and design with.  Check her out at The East Wind Etsy Shop today!

Little Polly's Collecting Flowers AND Treats -- for Crafty Sentiments

Today is day 4 of five days of New Releases at Crafty Sentiments Designs. You can see each day's releases, on the Crafty Sentiments Inspirations blog, beginning with Day 1, here.  All 5 days feature "Little Polly".  Today, I introduce rubber stamp, "Little Polly -- Collecting Flowers".

I stamped Little Polly - Collecting Flowers on Copic Blending Card, and colored her with Copic markers.  Then, I cut her out with 2 sizes of a Spellbinders die.  I adhered this to a treat bag from Close To My Heart.  The shimmer ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Little Polly - Collecting Flowers, is a joy to color and design with.  She is so sweet, and a simple image, so she doesn't take too long before she takes shape and looks great!

Please visit the Crafty Sentiments Inspirations Blog for more ideas on how to use this sweet rubber stamp, and come back tomorrow for the last day of June's New Releases. Wow!  What a great month!

Wish! -- for The Cutting Cafe

Cupcakes.  Who doesn't love cupcakes?!?  This week, at The Cutting Cafe, we were given the opportunity to work with any Cupcake-type file in The Cutting Cafe store.  There are lots and lots to choose from!

I adore making shaker cards, and will jump at any opportunity to do so.  So, it's no surprise that I have  a Cupcake Shaker card to share with you today:

This cupcake shaker card is part of the "13 Shaker Cards Cutting File Set".  You can also buy each of them individually, but why would you?

I made the cupcake as large as I could to fit on a standard A2 card front (4 1/4 x 5 1/2), then cut out all the pieces on my Silhouette Cameo. Designer papers are from Lawn Fawn -- Bright Side 12x12 Collection. The sequins and Timeless Twine Lemonade baker's twine can be found in the Bella Creationz Etsy Shop.  The sentiment is a die from Echo Park.

If this is your first time visiting my new blog, THANK YOU!  I want you to know I have blog candy to give away.  For every 50 followers, I gain, I will give away more blog candy.  Please click on THIS POST to be eligible by leaving a comment, and follow this blog.

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Today is day 2 of the New Little Polly releases at Crafty Sentiments Designs. Today's little sweetheart, Little Polly -- I Love Cupcakes, seemed perfect for a birthday themed project:

I colored Little Polly -- I love Cupcakes with Copic markers.  Here's a close look...

I cut her out with 2 different sizes of Spellbinders circle dies.  The birthday sentiment is from Get Inky! Stamps.  The cupcake box was cut out on my Cricut Explore, using the Sweet Treat Boxes cartridge.

Please visit the Crafty Sentiments Inspirations blog to see more great ideas of how to use this awesome new rubber stamp!

You Really Mooove Me! for QKR Stampede

It was a week ago today my blog disappeared.  I've still heard nothing from Google, so I guess it's gone forever.  I'm mooooooving forward.   At QKR Stampede Challenge blog this week, our theme is cows.

A cow with a pink tutu.  Isn't she moovelous?!?  This QKR Stampede digital image is 'Dancing Cow' (digi15612). The sentiment, also from QKR Stampede, is 'Mooove Me' (digi15518).  I colored the Dancing Cow with Copic markers. I used some American Crafts metallic markers to highlight the letters in the sentiment.

Papers for this card are all from Close To My Heart.  The designer papers are from a retired paper pack.  I used a number of Lifestyle Crafts circe dies to create this card, and a Die-namics stitched circle die, too.

I hope you can join us this week at QKR Stampede for our Cows themed challenge.  It's going to be FUN!

Little Polly -- a New Release for Crafty Sentiments

Crafty Sentiments Designs is having a big New Release the next few days.  I'll have 3 different project to share over the next several days.  You'll love these adorable rubber stamps!  They are all from the "Little Polly" release. Today, I'd like to introduce you to Little Polly -- Dear Friend.
Sweet Little Polly -- Dear Friend is colored with Copic markers, then mounted on a decorative treat box. The treat box was cut out on my Cricut Explore, using the Close To My Heart Artiste cartridge.

All papers and sequins are also from Close To My Heart.  The tie dye ribbon is from 3 Girl JAM

My first blog got hacked a week ago.  It took a few days to get up and going again, and this one is still obviously very much under construction.  One of the posts I missed was for the Crafty Sentiments Challenge blog. The theme of the challenge this week is "Anything Goes."  Here's my card...
This card uses the Crafty Sentiments Designs rubber stamp, Annabel -- Mermaid's Hair.   She was colored with Copic markers. Every mermaid should have 2-toned hair! The ocean creature embellishments are from Close To My Heart.  The tag is a die cut, and the sentiment is computer generated.  I used a Close To My Heart scalloped edge border punch, and some luscious Timeless Twine.  I hope you join us this week for our "Anything Goes" challenge.  You have until Monday evening!

Please check out the Crafty Sentiments Inspirations Blog for more great ideas of how to use today's new release -- Little Polly - Dear Friend!

Elephants Always Remember Gifts -- and Timeless Twine

I'm posting today for Timeless Twine/Bella Creationz.  I love any excuse to play with the gorgeous goodies found in the Bella Creationz Etsy Shop!

I chose this cute image from Gerda Steiner, and colored it with Copic markers, then ink the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  I used a Die-namics Stitched Circle Die to cut it out.  Once that was done, the Timeless Twine/Bella Creationz products took over!
I used:

There are so many great products in the Bella Creationz shop that make great little goodies.  Do some shopping and see for yourself!

With Sympathy -- for 3 Girl JAM

One of my good friends recently lost her beloved auntie.  She spent the last night's of her life by her bedside, helping her leave this earth, and start her journey in the next.  I wanted to make her a very special card in remembrance of this woman that meant so much to her. 3 Girl JAM products and an Aurora Wings image came to the rescue!
This is Single Stem Rose, by Aurora Wings.  I colored it with Copic markers, and cut it out with a Spellbinders die.  Behind the die, there are 2 layers of Distressed Lace from 3 Girl JAM, topped by a layer of Baby Girl Pink crinkle ribbon from the Baby Bundle.  I made the stickpin myself, and added it in.  Nice touch, huh?
The Sentiment is part of a "Simply Said" stamp set from Craftin' Desert Divas. The designer paper on this card is from Wild Rose Studio.  The card stock base is from Close To My Heart. My handy We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper got a workout again, too.
3 Girl JAM lace and ribbon layer beautifully together.  If you haven't tried it, it's one of my go-to techniques.  Give it a try!

A Vintage Christmas -- for The 12 Months of Christmas

I'm posting this card for The 12 Months of Christmas Link-up.  The theme this month is Home for the Holidays, Vintage Style. It's time for some mid-month inspiration:

Our sponsor this month is Luna Girl.  If you like vintage, you definitely need to check out Luna Girl.  Her selection is incredible!

I used the 2.5 inch Rounds Christmas Birds & Holly Sheet on this card. Once it was printed, I chose which round I wanted to use, punched it out with a Creative Memories Circle Punch, then used a slightly larger punch to mat it. I wanted a black mat for emphasis, so used a Lifestyle Crafts Circle Die and Close To My Heart Black are Stock for the final layer.  The vintage snowflake designer papers are from Lisa Decosse, of Decosse's Dynamite Doodles. The set of papers is called Snow Fest.  The rhinestone swirl has been in my stash forever.  I picked it up long ago in an after Christmas clearance (Michael's or Joann's?).  The round sparkles are from Close To My Heart.

Join our 12 Months of Christmas Challenge.  Link up any Christmas card you'd like.  If it meets the theme, you'll be eligible for this month's prize!

I Love You This Much! for QKR Stampede

It's Friday, and time for a new challenge at QKR Stampede challenge blog. Our theme this week is "Father's Day Cards".  As it turns out, this was a tough one for me.  I lost my own father last year and my father-in-law a couple months ago.  My husband and I have no children, so I have no need for a Father's Day card.  This is what I came up with:
This sweet QKR Stampede image is Hug Me (digi15106). The sentiment, also from QKR Stampede, is This Much (digi15116).  I colored the Hug Me image with Copic markers. Several Die-namics dies were used on this card.  Papers and bling were from my stash.
Join us this week for our Father's Day projects challenge at QKR Stampede.  I'd love to see what you make!

Happy Birthday Ballerina -- for SDS

I'm posting today for Snapdragon Snippets designs.  They have so many cutting files that can be used in more ways than I have an imagination for.  If you can think of it, there's a file for it. Today, I want to show you what I did with a simple Snapdragon Snippets A2 Gatefold card and matching envelope.

I used two-sided Echo Park card stock on both the card and envelope.  It's spring green on one side, and yellow on the other, so the card and envelope coordinate beautifully.  The inside of the card is the same color as the outside of the envelope, and vice versa. The other papers on the card are also from Echo Park -- Life is Good 12x12 Collection.

My mother-in-law recently celebrated her 80th birthday.  I made her this card because she likes cats, and because I don't think we ever grow too old to feel like dancing. The image is from Aurora Wings.  This cute digi is Ballerina Kitten -- Swan Lake. I colored her with Copic markers, and cut her out with a Spellbinders die.  The sentiment, a stamp from Hot Off the Press, is also cut out with a Spellbinders die.  The distress lace and crinkle ribbon are from 3 Girl JAM.
There are many Gatefold cards from Snapdragon Snippets in the Silhouette Online Store, with matching envelopes. Soon, they will be available in the Snapdragon Snippets Store.  I hope you choose one (or more!) and give it a try.  As I said at the beginning of this post, the possibilities are as endless as your imagination.

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:

Birthday Wishes -- for IDCB

It's Challenge time at Inspiration Destination Challenge Blog (IDCB).  As always, it's anything goes!  This week, like many weeks, we have incredible sponsors.  I love Gerda Steiner's art, so I chose to work with one of her digis.
I colored the Bunny with Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils, using Canson Mi-Tientes paper.  I used a Lifestyle Crafts circle die in two sizes to cut him out and layer him.  The sentiment is a retired Close To My Heart stamp, punched out with a 1 inch circle punch (also CTMH). The cupcake-shaped card is a cutting file from The Cutting Cafe. Papers are from Pink Paislee -- the Soiree Collection.
I hope you join us this week (and every week) at IDCB.  I'd love to see what you make!

Happy Spring -- for Crafty Sentiments

It's Saturday, and I'm posting today for the Crafty Sentiments Inspirations blog.  I have a tutorial for you today.  Actually, it's more of some hints for more favorite card-making techniques.  First, I'll show you my card, using Crafty Sentiments Designs rubber stamp, Rainy Days:
I like to make shaped cards.  I think that add a lot to a card, drawing the viewer's eye to the image.  I use either an electronic die cut machine, like my Silhouette Cameo, or in this case, My Cricut Explore, &/or a manual die cut machine like my Big Shot or Grand Caliber.
I colored the rubber stamp, Rainy Days, with Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils.  I've used them before on flowers and animals, but this was my first attempt on skin tones, hair, and clothing.
Another "tip" -- I like to match elements to the theme of the image. The die cut umbrella (by Memory Box)is a perfect example of this.  As with the shaped card, I think it draws the viewer's eye TO the image, instead of distracting from it.  Using papers that match the image does the same thing.  One of the designer papers, by Pink Paislee (Hello Sunshine 6x6 pad) has rain drops on it -- sticking with the Rainy Days theme.
One more tip -- many of my creations have crinkle ribbon on them.  I find it incredibly easy to work with.  I can tie the perfect bow almost every time.  It's very forgiving!
Visit the Crafty Sentiments Inspirations blog for lots of tutorials and beautiful work.  There's also the Crafty Sentiments Challenge blog, with chances to win charming Crafty Sentiments stamps for yourself.  Have you checked out the Crafty Sentiments Designs Facebook page?  There's even more inspiration there.

Shine Bright -- for Art by Miran

Hello, crafty friends.  I have an adorable image to share with you today.  I received it as part of a progressive challenge a few months ago.  Then, my father-in-law died, and I didn't have a chance to use it.  I'm back on track now, and got the opportunity to color this cutie up, and put her on a card today.  She's an Art by Miran digi:

This is Gem, and I colored her with Copic markers.  I used a bit of Wink of Stella on the gem.
I cut out the shaped card on my Silhouette Cameo.  The card base is some Gold Luxe paper from Papertrey Ink.  The designer paper is from My Mind's Eye.  The oval cross-stitched die is from Die-namics. The gem embellishment is from Studio Calico.  The crinkle ribbon is 3 Girl JAM. The sentiment is part of a stamp from Unity Stamp Company.  I used a Marvy Uchida stamp marker on the part of the sentiment I wanted to use.

I'm linking this card up with Art by Miran's design team call.  They are looking for designers for both their showcase team and their challenge team.  I'd love the opportunity to work with these delightful images on a regular basis, and to be part of an incredibly talented, no-drama team. I find true joy in coloring and designing, often using my Silhouette or Explore to enhance my projects.  Being creative brings me joy!
I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:
D.L. Art -- June Linky Party
AUD Sentiments -- Bingo (Ribbon, Digi stamp, 3D item {gem})

Call Me Maybe -- for The East Wind

It's time for another New Release at The East Wind.  Unky, the talented artist behind the images, has branched out a bit this month.  For me, this was a real challenge. Remember, with The East Wind images, attitude is everything!

This is Betty "Rock Ballad".  I colored "her" with Copic Markers, trying some deeper skin tones than I ever have before, and giving "her" flame red hair.
The papers on this card are retired from Close To My Heart.  The circle chipboard is from UmWow Studio.
You'll see a couple other versions of Betty this month at The East Wind Etsy Shop, and in The East Wind Facebook group.

Golf -- the Only Thing -- for QKR Stampede

It's Friday, and time for a new challenge at the QKR Stampede Challenge blog. Do you golf?  Neither my husband or I do, nor do we hang out with people who do.  However, I managed to create a card for the challenge theme:

This adorable digi is QKR Stampede image, Golfing Turtle (digi15307).  The sentiment, also from QKR Stampede, is "The Only Thing" (digi14310).  I colored the Golfing Turtle with Copic markers.
Papers and bling for this card are from Close To My Heart
Please join us this week for our Golfing Challenge at QKR Stampede.  I'd love to see what you make!

Hellooooooo Summer? for Timeless Twine

It was 39 degrees where I live this morning.  But, this month, at Timeless Twine/Bella Creationz, we're thinking Summer and the 4th of July.  This whole month, Firecracker twine is being featured (aqua blue and red), and it's one of my favorites!
I found a treat box in the Silhouette Design Store that spoke to me of summer:

Firecracker Baker's Twine (on SALE!!!)

Hello Summer Clear Stamp Set -- LOVE this set!

I used 2 shades of Marvy Uschida Stamp Markers on the "Hello Summer" sentiment, stamping directly on the tag, then attached it with baker's twine, making a handle for my ladybug treat box.

Summer is coming.  When it does, I'm ready with my treat box and Timeless Twine/Bella Creationz goodies.  There's a whole shop full of wonderfulness.  Check it out!!!

Enjoy the Summer -- for 3 Girl JAM

I have never seen a hedgehog in real life, but I think they are so darn cute!  This little guy is no exception.  He's chasing butterflies and hoping for a warm summer day!
The image is from Great Impressions Stamps.  I colored it with Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils.  The sentiment is a Joy's Life stamp, on a ribbon slide cut out using a Spellbinder die. That pretty gray crinkle ribbon holding it all together is from the L/G Bundle from 3 Girl JAM.
The card base is cut out on my Silhouette Cameo, using a cutting file from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons.  Papers are from Close To My Heart
Have you joined the 3 Girl JAM Challenge yet this month?  It's Anything Goes with ribbon.  You have LOTS of time, but don't forget!
