Spring Butterflies are Here!

Hello, and happy Tuesday, everyone!  Spring is being very slow in coming here in NW WI.  In fact, we're having snow showers again today.  I'm afraid the only butterflies around are those I create myself on paper.  This is the last week for this term with The Cutting Cafe, so we can make anything we wanted.  Thinking spring, I decided to make this:

I used the Butterfly Shaped Card template and cutting file from The Cutting Cafe.   I re-sized the butterfly a couple times to get the smaller layers.
The papers on this card are from My Mind's Eye Collectible.  The sentiment is from a Close To My Heart stamp set.  I used a Creative Memories heart punch.  The pearls are from my stash.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my 2 terms with Regina and The Cutting Cafe.  The experience has been very rewarding. And, fortunately for me, Regina is changing the structure of her team so I will be able to continue.  See you next week!!!! Yeehaw!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

A Spring Thank You -- for DigiStamps4Joy

It's "New Release" Sunday again at DigiStamps4Joy.  There are several great ones again this week, so make sure you check out the store!  I used the Flower Frame digi to make this springtime thank you card:
I colored the image with Copic markers, using some subtle springtime flowers.
I used a Spellbinders die for the decorative square, a Cheery Lynn die for the butterfly, a Close To My Heart stamp for the sentiment, some 3 Girl JAM lace and ribbon, and paper from The Paper Studio. The butterfly has some iridescent paper I've had so long, I don't know where it's from. The gorgeous stickpins were made for me by a crafty friend.  I just love the touch of elegance they give!
Make sure you check out the other wonderful inspiration on the DigiStamps4Joy blog!

Christmas in April -- and another card for Sunday Sketch and Stamp

I have a card today that is serving two purposes.  First, I used the sketch from this week's challenge at Sunday Sketch and Stamp.
Here's the sketch:
and here's my take on it:

I used the free Christmas digi from DigiStamps4Joy.  All I need to do to get the next freebie is make a card using this one and enter it in the DS4J Christmas Challenge.  Plus, I have another Christmas made for the 2014 Christmas season!  I colored the image with Copic Markers.  The papers, sentiment, and bling are from Close To My Heart.
So, join in the challenge at Sunday Sketch & Stamp with this sketch, and then check out the Christmas challenge at DigiStamps4Joy.

Shake, shake, SHAPE! for Timeless Twine

Woohoo! It's Friday! And the last day of work for a whole week! I'm ready for a week off for a little R & R.
I'm posting today on the Timeless Twine blog.  Today, my theme is a "shaped card".  Shaker cards are so popular right now, so I decided on a shaped shaker card (say that 3 times fast!)

This shaker card is a cutting file from The Cutting Cafe.  His body just needed to be wrapped with some luscious Graphite Gray Timeless Twine.  A Bubble Gum Pink Timeless Twine double bow topped it off.  See the "amazing" sentiment?  I stamped it on a White Heart Sticker, found in the Bella Creationz Store

The papers used on the card are from My Mind's Eye. I filled my shaker card with some beads I got from a friend.
Thanks for stopping by today!  Shake on!

It MUST be Friday ('cause it's Friends With FLAIR!)

Yea, yea, yea! It's definitely Friday! And, my last day of work for a week.  I'm looking forward to a few days of R & R and some girl time with my BFF's and our 4-legged friends.
I know I've been showing a lot of sympathy cards lately, but I have another to share today.  This one went to a good friend who recently lost her brother:
I used the Unity Stamp Company set, "Moments In Bloom". The set has great flowers and sentiments.  The sentiment I used on this card is from Close To My Heart.  I used a Viva Decor Pearl Pen in Sunny Yellow on this card, and Marvy Uchida Brush Art Markers.
Happy crafting, everyone!

Mid-challenge Inspiration for DigiStamps4Joy

Hello, and happy Wednesday, everyone! It is finally beginning to feel like Spring here in NW WI.  All but the largest of snow banks have melted, and the ice is off the small lake across the road from where I live.  The large lakes will remain iced over for another week or so, making for excellent springtime birding close to home!
The current challenge at DigiStamps4Joy is Easter/Spring.  Since we're past Easter, I went with a springtime theme, making this sweet card:
My very first pet ever was a rabbit named Sniffer.  I got him for Easter when I was 7, and had him for 7 years.  This card brings back many sweet memories of my dear childhood friend.
The name of the digi is "Hello Bunny" (jl124)

I colored the image with Copic markers, used designer papers by Pebbles Papers, I used a Spellbinders label die and a Cheery Lynn butterfly die. The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Company. The bling is from my stash.
I hope you enter your spring/Easter projects in the DigiStamps4Joy challenge.  I'd love to see what you've made!
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
The Cheerful Stamp Pad -- use 3 different papers
Crafting from the Heart -- anything goes

Happy Birthday, Jack!

Yea! I made it through Easter! All those rehearsals and church services are finally over -- just in time to go back to work -- the life of a church organist that works full-time, LOL.
My best friend's Golden Retriever, Jack, turns 1 today.  I won't have a chance to celebrate the event until next week because we live 3 hours apart, but I did make a little something to honor the event.
This week, at The Cutting Cafe, the design team had 3 choice of files to work with:

 ALPHABETIC WINDOW CARD TOPS

NUMBER WINDOW CARDS....TEMPLATES - CUTTING FILES

 NUMBER GRID BACKGROUND....PRINTABLE STAMP SET

I chose the Alphabetic Window Card Tops.  Using the set, and the Fun with Blocks cutting file, I made this gift for Jack and my BFF, Sheri:
Here's one side of the blocks:
Here's the side celebrating Jack and his birthday:
another side of the blocks:
the fourth side:
and, in honor of her other Golden Retriever:

These blocks are so fun to make and use for home decor pieces.  I've had these sitting on a 1/2 wall near our kitchen and my husband and I are often re-arranging them, just for kicks.
The dog beside a couple of the pictures was carved by a woman who's husband was in our nursing home for awhile.  She made many carved ornaments and gave them to the staff at Christmas.  I leave this cute dog out year-round.
Papers for this project are by BoBunny.  The heart paw print and the bone were found at the Silhouette Online Store.
Here's to many happy years for Jack.  These will be delivered next week when we get together for "Girl's Week."
Make sure you visit the Cutting Cafe blog on Thursday to see the other inspiration from this talented design team.  Leave a comment and you can win 3 sets of your choice from The Cutting Cafe. Yea!
I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:

Crafty bloggers Network -- diecut or embossing
Cutie Pie Challenge -- Anything but a Card
Unstampabelles -- incorporate animal or bird (pawprint)

Just Hoppin' By!

Here we are, just a couple days away from Easter! I'm hoppin' by with a quick post today, as I flit between work and church, leading Good Friday services, Easter egg hunts, more Good Friday services (I play organ for 3 today), and have several rehearsals with musicians for Easter Sunday.
I'm posting today on the Pinque Peacock blog, with this cheerful Easter card.

This bunny is a cutting file from My Scrap Chick.  It's part of the Bunny Box Trio Set.  The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Company. It's part of an Itty Bitty stamp set called, "Hunny Bunny."
But, what REALLY makes this card special?  It's that Pinque Peacock Elegant Floral that really makes this card pop!  Get yours HERE at the Pinque Peacock store.
Because it's Friday, and it's Friends With Flair, I'm linking this card up on the Unity blog.
Happy Easter, everyone! Or should that be Hoppy Easter?

It's Almost Easter!

Hello, and happy Thursday, crafty friends.  I'm posting today on the 3 Girl JAM blog.
Easter is just around the corner! We're having an Easter egg hunt at the nursing home where I work tomorrow.  A couple of young children are coming in to help with it, and I wanted to make some cute treat boxes for them, filled with some chocolatey goodness, of course!  And ANYTHING is cuter, decorated with 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon!
This bunny belly box is a file from My Scrap Chick. It's from the "Trio of Bunnies" set. And what bunny doesn't need a little hair bow to really dress it up?  This one has some 3 Girl JAM Ribbon Candy Green ribbon from the Ribbon Candy Bundle.
Need some of this glorious Ribbon Candy Bundle for yourself?  Or some other special Easter treat from 3 Girl JAM? Use coupon code JO10 to get 10% off of your order.  Go ahead! Treat yourself!
We're just over 1/2 way through with our "All Things Spring" challenge on the 3 Girl JAM challenge blog.  Use the linky below, or link up on the challenge blog.  I'd LOVE to see your creations!

Rain Boots... for My Scrap Chick

Hello, crafty friends.  Thanks for stopping by.  I'm posting today for My Scrap Chick. I decided to take a break from Easter projects and make a Spring-themed card.

How's that for cute?  The frog/rainboot/umbrella image comes from the My Scrap Chick set, "Rainy Day Kids".
All the papers from the card are from Close To My Heart.  They retired several years ago, but I've been hoarding that cloud paper.  The sentiment is a stamp by Great Impressions Stamps.  The bling is from my stash.
I hope you enjoyed today's card.  I had a great time making it!

Easter Cards -- for SVG Attic

Today is my first official post for SVG Attic, and I'm very excited to be on their design team. I discovered their files in January, bought a bunch of them in February, only to discover the owner was closing the store. Lucky for me, and everyone else who loves the files, the store was purchased by Mike & Kenzie Daley, owners of Snapdragon Snippets. And, even luckier for me, they decided to have a design team and offered me a position.  So, HERE I GO!
As you may know, I work as the activity director at the local nursing home.  I try to make as many cards as I can for each holiday and hand them out to the residents there.  I used the SVG Attic Easter Elements kit on all 3 of these cards:

Everything in this Easter Elements kit went together very quickly.  Before I knew it, I had three images cut out and cards assembled.  I stamped some appropriate sentiments, added some ribbon, and they were done and ready for the Easter holiday.
Check out the wonderful variety of cutting files at SVG Attic!  I can't wait to start my next project!

A really LARGE gift box -- for The Cutting Cafe

Hello, and happy Monday, crafty friends.  It's Holy Week.  A week, for me, as church organist, of many rehearsals and many church services. Plus, we have some special Easter activities planned at the nursing home.  So, it's a busy week coming up.
This week, at The Cutting Cafe, Regina gave us two choices of files to work with.  Our choices were: the configuration box template & cutting file or the large gift box template & cutting file. I chose to work with the large gift box.
And, it IS large! It uses 2 12x12 pieces of cardstock for the lid, and and another 2 pieces for the box. Designer paper is by My Mind's Eye.
I also used the Cutting Cafe file "Loopy Loop Bow - Flower".  The tag pictured in this close up is part of the Large Box File. The "for you" sentiment was stamped on the tag.

The brad on the Loopy Loop bow is by BoBunny.  The ribbon is from Close To My Heart.  The twine is "naturally white" twine by Timeless Twine.
What's more fun than a homemade gift in a handmade box?  I LOVE this cutting file!
Don't forget to visit The Cutting Cafe blog Thursday to see the rest of the inspiration from this talented design team.  Leave a comment and you could  win a chance for 3 sets of your own from The Cutting Cafe.

Here's my card:

I used stamps from Unity Stamp Company's February 2014 Kit of the Month.  The papers are Webster's Pages, as is the button and twine.  The butterfly is a die from Cheery Lynn.

It's Sunday, which means New Release Day in the DigiStamps4Joy store. This week's whimsical release was particularly fun for me!

The image of the girl and the umbrella, titled 'Rain Dance' can be found in the DigiStamps4Joy store starting today.  She was sooooo fun to color with my Copic markers.

The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Company. The papers are My Mind's Eye -- 6x6 Fine and Dandy pad.  There's 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon and some Timeless Twine, a Memory Box die and several Spellbinders dies. The card base is Sunflower card stock from Close To My Heart.

It's Friday! and it's Friends With Flair

Since my father died a month ago today, it seems like I've been needing more than enough sympathy cards.  The one I'm sharing today is for a DT sister on one of the teams I'm on. I realized anew the importance of  sympathy cards and the handmade ones I recently received were, of course, my favorites.  So, I set to work making this one:

I used the Unity Sentiment Kit, "May Hope Sustain You".  I used Marvy Uchida brush art markers on the image to get the different colors.  The sentiment is stamped with Close To My Heart Barn Red Ink. Papers are by My Mind's Eye and so are the Enamel Dots. Both are from the Collectable collection.  The ribbon is some I've had forever  -- maybe Fancy Pants? I used several Spellbinders dies and a CTMH corner rounder on this card, too.
Have a great weekend, everyone! I hope you find some time to get inky!
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Just a little "Note" for DigiStamps4Joy

It's time for some mid-challenge inspiration at DigiStamps4Joy. The current challenge, hosted by Sharon, is "add wings".  I love birds, so this was a fun one for me!
I used the digi called, "Chirp" on this card.  I believe he is a European robin, but I wanted him to be a bluebird.  So he is.
I used a technique I've been wanting to try, applying Tim Holtz Distress inks with a makeup sponge directly to the digi image.  Then, I fussy cut around it.  I also used Distress inks and a sponge on a diecut circle behind the digi, and cut a slightly larger circle behind the inked one.  I was going for a shabby chic look, so everything was sanded heavily and/or inked.
Papers are by My Mind's Eye.  The feathers and the fabric covered button are from Pinque Peacock. The sentiment stamp is from Unity Stamp Company.
I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
613 Ave Creates -- Sights, Smells, sounds of Spring

Easter Bunny Greetings -- for The Cutting Cafe

Hello, and happy Tuesday, everyone! Spring is finally springing here in NW Wisconsin.  There are flocks of robins everywhere, the red-winged blackbirds are back claiming territory, and the sandhill cranes are standing on the ice, waiting for it to go off the small lake across the road from us.  Ah yes, Spring.  And Easter is just around the corner.  Which, for me, as church organist, means rehearsals, rehearsals, rehearsals.  And lots of church services.
Oh, but this is a crafting post, isn't it?
Today, for The Cutting Cafe, I made a card that's just brimming with Easter wishes...
This is the Easter Bunny shaped card 2.  It goes together very quickly and comes with a matching envelope (Love that!).  I don't usually use glitter, but his tail screamed for it, so I broke down and glittered up his tail.  I wanted a glamorous bunny, after all!  The ribbon around his neck is from 3 Girl JAM.  It is Baby Girl Pink from the Baby Bundle.  Papers are from Echo Park. I used a Creative Memories heart punch, a retired Close To My Heart "Happy Easter" sentiment stamp, and the card was ready for mailing.
Make sure you visit the Cutting Cafe blog later this week to see the entire team's inspiring projects.  And, you'll have a chance to win 3 sets of your choice from the store.  There's so many great ones to choose from!
I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Some Bunny card for My Scrap Chick

Monday? How did it get to be Monday already? Here's to a great week! It's my day to feature a project for My Scrap Chick on their Facebook page.  I wanted something with an Easter theme, and geez, did I find something cute.  What do ya think?
This card is part of the My Scrap Chick Trio of Bunnies set.  Carrots for feet, a fluffy, glittery, tail... that's one sweet bunny.  The sentiment is from the "55 Words" set.  I used the print and cut feature of my Silhouette for those.
I also made the Bunny belly box that goes with the Trio of Bunnies set...
I tell ya, he makes me giggle, just looking at him.  He's a great size for some Easter candy.  But, in our household, he's also the perfect size to hold a gift card -- probably from the Harley Shop!

Ayanna -- a Sunday Release for DigiStamps4Joy

Happy Sunday, everyone.  And, since it's Sunday, that means there are several new releases at DigiStamps4Joy today. I chose to work with Ayanna (which means "beautiful flower") to create this card:

Why did I choose this image?  Because she was SO much FUN to color!  I got out my Copic markers and ran with it.  What a joy!
I fussy cut the image, foam taped her to some flowered background paper from Pebbles, added some more BG paper, diecut a flourish, stamped a sentiment (by Unity Stamp Company), diecut that, added some pearls, used some 3 Girl JAM Aqua Splash ribbon from the Caribbean Splash Bundle, added a couple stick pins from My Mind's Eye, and this card is a wrap.
I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Whatever the Weather

Woohoo! It's the weekend! Thanks for taking time out to visit my blog! I'm posting today on the Timeless Twine blog.  We're mixing it up this month, with the designers bringing you different themes.  I was lucky enough to get a "card" theme for today. However, to challenge myself, I tried a technique I've never used before.  First, the card:

Soft, subtle spring time colors.  Ah, just what I've been craving.  And, an umbrella! We still need snow shovels where I live -- we got 10 inches of snow yesterday!  Yeesh! But, back to the card.  I tried a new technique (for me), using the negative space from the diecut, and filling the space with 2 colors of Timeless Twine -- Aqua Blue and Cherry Red.
Here's a close up of the sentiment...

These new  Bella Creationz Spring colored sequins were the perfect finishing touch for this card. They come in Aqua, Pink, and Lime Green.

Papers used were a Jillibean Soup 6x6 pad, Southern Chicken Dumpling Soup.  The petite umbrella die is by Memory Box. The sentiment is by Unity Stamp Company.
I'll be back on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for more crafty inspiration.  I hope to see you then!

You Fill My Heart With Joy!

Hello, and happy Friday, my crafty friends.  I'm posting today on the Pinque Peacock blog, so today's card has one of my favorite Pinque Peacock products featured on it -- a stick pin.  I absolutely ADORE these!
And, since it's Friday, and I love Friends With Flair, I'm using one of my favorite Unity stamps, too -- Donna Downey's Insightful Meadows.  It seems to be my go-to stamp set these days.
Here's what I created with it:

Isn't that Pearl Butterfly stick pin beautiful?  Here's a closeup of it.

The papers are My Mind's Eye So Sophie. The ribbon is 3 Girl JAM Hot Chocolate ribbon from the Hot & Cold Bundle. I used a Lifestyle Crafts circle die here, too.
And, in case you'd like a closeup of the sentiment, I have that, too:
The sentiment is from the Unity Itty Bitty "Heart With Joy".

Did you participate in Sunday's Growing in Unity blog hop?  I promised to announce the winner of the extra Unity Stamp of the Week, "Berry Sweet Moments".  Using Random.org, Cynthia was chosen.  Congratulations, Cynthia!  You can send me an email at julieodil at charter dot net and let me know your address.

Really Cute Boots -- for 3 Girl JAM (and a winner)

Hello, and happy Thursday, everyone.  Today's my day to post on the 3 Girl JAM blog and I'm excited to show you my creation.  It makes me giggle whenever I see it.
As is often the case, today's card comes with a story.  There's a nursing assistant where I work that is always looking for fun galoshes she can wear when she is helping residents shower.  She thinks it makes it more fun, and not such a loss of their dignity.  My father, before he died, used to laugh at her boots and say, "I want those boots!"  Patti would answer back, "You can't have them", or "They won't fit!" or something to that effect.  They had this "boot thing".  She misses my dad terribly, too.  So, Patti, this card is for you:
I used lots of 3 Girl JAM jute ribbon and string on this card, 'cause it added to the cute effect. The boots were colored with Copic markers.  They are a stamp from Unity Stamp Co.  The sentiment stamp is from Great Impressions Stamps. The 6x6 papers are My Mind's Eye Lime Twist.  The petite umbrella die is by Memory Box. The Kraft base is Close To My Heart.
And, in case you need a close up of the sentiment, here it is...
That's it.  That's all the advice I have for you today.  Unless, of course, you want some of this jute string and ribbon for yourself.  Then, I suggest using discount code JO10 in the 3 Girl JAM store.  It's good for anything in the store.  Yeah, Julie's like that.  Really generous.
Have you linked up with our "All Things Spring" challenge yet?  It's going on the month of April.  Join in!
I promised to announce the winner of the 3 Girl JAM goodies from last weekend's "All Thing's Spring" hop.  Random.org chose comment #21:  Sheri Marek.  Sheri, I'll be getting your goodies to you soon! (ribbon, flair, & vintage buttons)  Congratulations!
